School's out!!

We survived 4th great and 8th grade...not only survived, but thrived!!! Both Jake and Maddy have had a great school year. We are so excited for summer but will miss the teachers and friends we have had. This is Maddy and her teacher, Mrs. Snow. Maddy has loved her class and made wonderful friends. The great thing about this year is she had a great group of girls in her class that all seemed to get along pretty well. She got to particpate in Ballet and even the Nutcracker this year, take piano lessons, play soccer, and had tons of fun with friends. Some of her favorites were Paige, Kennedy, Megan, Libby, Hailey, and Hallee. Here we come 5th grade!

Although Jake wouldn't let me go to the Junior High and get pictures with him and his teachers (understood, of course), he had a great year as well. I can't tell you how proud I am of this kid! He not only got a 4.0 this term but has a cumulative 4.0! He works so hard and shows such great responsibility. It really is a pleasure for me. Some of his highlights of the year were football (of course), soccer, track, and a hunting trip to North Dakota. Some of the friends he hung out with most are Emili, Alex, Alyssa, Ben & Jesse, Cassidy, Talise, and Ben, Christian, & Zach R. It's been a good year but he is looking forward to being a 9th grader. It's hard to believe he's almost in High School. It makes a mom sad to see them grow up before your eyes.

And I had to take them to Krispy Kreme to celebrate their accomplishments. Although they don't love donuts, I thought it would send a good message to them to be rewarded for working hard. (A little cash brings a smile to their faces, as well.) They get a donut for every "A" so each of them scored their own box. And I certainly didn't mind helping them eat their donuts.

I am so proud of these kids and am looking forward to savoring every moment I can with them this summer!
